six degrees of separation

i am often amazed when i visit a fellow blogger's blog, they have linked to someone i know.
i feel the need to post that a friend has turned up missing: marc salak, from davis, california. on wednesday, august 17, 2005 he jumped into a river of the epupa falls of namibia, africa. his friend watched as a current swept him away. he has not been seen since. a team of people, including a helicopter, are searching.
you can google marc to see all his amazing accomplishments. one of the most unique people i have ever met. an obsidian napper, a wheel thrower, a geologist, a guinness book world record holder (he found the tallest cactus, baja californai) the ability to write the smallest print on a post card that i have ever seen, a shrewd business man, (marc funded his travel adventures by tie-dying & selling his wear every summer in chicago), abalony diver (he can hold his breathe for a loonngg time)..., a son, a boyfriend, an inspiration to many.
even if you don't know marc, shoot a thought towards africa, for him, his friend, his mom, his sis, the folks searching.
thank you.

My family knows the Salak family very well and I have to say that it's been a very sad time. Marc was such a fascinating person and he will be missed. I haven't seen him in years but I always knew what he was up to as his proud parents would keep my parents updated. I don't think that anything will ease the loss and the pain of all who knew him but he is in our thoughts and in our prayers.
